The vocation of St. Thérèse of Lisieux is but the epitome of the “reaction” man is called to give to God’s loving initiative. Her ecstatic exclamation, “I shall be love!” is but the reverberation of, “God is love.” It is only natural, then, that the Little Flower was a child of the Church and a child of Our Lady, because it is in the heart of the Church and in the Immaculate Heart where the fullness and sublimity of God’s love dwells.
